Event program 16 of 20Raft Building:
The ones not planning will sink!
One more stout-hearted hammer stroke and reality kicks in: the self-made raft has to survive the practical test on the water – the whole construction team on it. Does the construction carry all team members or do some have to swim back to safe land?
Creativity, technical skills and good planning are required whenever 12 fresh raft builders build their own floating device by using a small and limited amount of material. During the final testing and rafting competition phase fun and teamwork finally take over. This day will last in participants’ heads for a long period of time!

- Teams of 10-12 people each build a solid, floatable raft with the provided material and inaugurate it with a maiden voyage. Therefore teamwork is essential because only joint effort will result in a floatable raft which will survive the practical test.
- That means: Take the paddles and start the rafting competition! The rafting teams have to find a hidden treasure on the bottom of the lake by simply using a compass. Which team will manage to recover the treasure? Who gets back to safe land first without losing any manpower or material? This project literally forces to work and function as a team and thereby contains lots of fun for all participants.
